At Evrim, every part of our brand tells a story - from our name to our logo. In this blog, we’re sharing the thinking behind both: why we’re called Evrim, and how our visual identity reflects our mission to help teams uncover intelligence in unexpected places.
Of all the choices we made starting this company, choosing the name “Evrim” was the most natural. Evrim means evolution in Turkish—a word that captures both the constant innovation we strive for and the resilience required to build lasting technology.
The name was also inspired by an AI character called Evrim in The Mountain in the Sea, a favorite sci-fi novel of our co-founder Chris Smith. One of the novel’s central themes stuck with us: intelligence often exists in places we can’t easily access or even recognize. That’s the core of our mission at Evrim: helping teams uncover valuable insights hidden in hard-to-reach and messy data ecosystems.
We wanted our logo to feel both structured and open. Designed in partnership with the talented team at Viget, our logo is minimalistic, interconnected, and grounded.
Its eight-point symmetry nods to the octopuses in The Mountain in the Sea, symbolizing complexity, adaptability, and intelligence in unexpected forms. The form of the logo is open, with space for flow - a visual reference to the way water moves, and to how we think data should move too. With ease. With direction. Without friction.
Lastly, we wanted a logo that felt approachable and easy to understand. The bright colors and soft edges welcome our community to the benefits of data collection - something traditionally seen as reserved for large companies with teams of engineers and data scientists.
Our design was inspired by:
As we continue building Evrim, both our technology and our brand will keep evolving, just like the collection technology and products we are creating. If you’re curious about how real intelligence begins with collection, reach out below!
